Taken at the Kure Beach Pier well before sunrise — when the world is still mostly blue.

There was just a thin band of orange and white sitting low on the horizon, hinting at what was coming. Above it, deep navy skies held a quiet crescent moon. And somehow, snow covered the sand — something you don’t see often at the coast.

The pier stretches straight into all of it, steady and familiar against a sky that felt anything but ordinary. Cold, calm, and completely still — one of those mornings that felt almost surreal.
