One of my favorite hikes in the area, this scene comes from the Lost Province Trail on Mount Jefferson in Ashe County, North Carolina. Late summer mornings here often begin with low clouds and mist drifting through the forest, creating the soft, moody atmosphere that makes this trail so memorable.
Ashe County sits within a temperate rainforest climate, and I love how many mornings begin wrapped in fog and quiet light along the mountain trails.
